Late Bronze Age
During the excavations carried out at Çaltılar Höyük, a jar tomb from the beginning of the Late Bronze Age was unearthed on the northeastern edge of Çaltılar Höyük. The mouth of the jar, which extends in the northeast-southwest direction, was closed by overlapping two large, thick slabs of stone. Leg and skull fragments belonging to a child and two teeth were identified in the grave. A bronze spiral constitutes the only grave find. During the excavations on the northeastern slope of the mound, a pottery tomb destroyed by the villagers and many fragments of broken vessels were unearthed. These findings are important as they show that the northeastern slope and foothills of the mound were used as a cemetery in the Late Bronze Age. Remains of the settlement belonging to the inhabitants of these graves have not yet been found in the mound.
